Report on "Meet your Muslim-American neighbors" open house by the Islamic Association of Raleigh

Mary Jo Bulbrook very kindly attended this open house at short notice a few weeks ago, and came away with a very positive impression. Not only are we at Newman trying to reach out across barriers, but other communities we are trying to reach out to are doing so to. Here is the follow up email she received from the Islamic Association of Raleigh.

Dear honored guests, We at the Islamic Association of Raleigh would like to extend our most sincere gratitude for your attendance and participation in meeting your Muslim American neighbor at our open house, last week. We are overwhelmed by your kindness and support and were truly delighted to host you as our guests at our house of worship and to share with you our religion, Islam, in which we find guidance, solace, and serenity.   We hope that we were able to shed some light on Islam and that you enjoyed your visit to a mosque and interaction with local muslims.  This year we received an enormous amount of attendants and hope that we were able to provide a pleasant environment for everyone, and would like to extend an apology if there was any part in our arrangement of the open house that we fell short on.   For those that were unable to attend, as well as those that would like to follow up on the open house, we offer many opportunities and avenues to further your relationship with your Muslim American neighbor. Sundays from 2-3 we offer an Intro to Islam class for non-Muslims. Contact outreach@islam1.org to schedule tours for your organization, class, etc... Schedule a speaking engagement from a member of our outreach team or Imam, by emailing outreach@islam1.org. You may also visit us during our congregational service on Friday (visit raleighmasjid.org for info on service times). Finally, would also like to add your email address to our mailing-list for future events, if you'd prefer to opt out, please respond to this email as soon as possible.
